joined a small team started by Sam Altman to do what Bitcoin couldn’t: put crypto in the hands of everyone in the world. Somehow caught the operations bug: in 2.5 years I led the growth of Worldcoin to over 1M people across 28 countries, building a large, global team.
highlights:
moved to a small town in Germany in July 2020 with 6 of the smartest people I’ve ever met (who couldn’t get back to SF because US had shut down borders due to COVID). They had just finished building the first prototype for the Orb, a spherical device using biometrics to determine if someone signing up had signed up before.
once the Orb was ready to test, built out the application to run tests and sign up users, then took it to the streets for our first field tests.
one field test became two, which became ten, which then became a full beta program in twenty-eight countries.
eventually began to run the entire growth operations globally, formulating our growth model and building the playbook to launch and scale markets, which was deployed from Portugal to Kenya to Zimbabwe.
built and led an operations team of 10 FTE around the world, which was a unique and rewarding challenge.
close to 2 years after we started our first field test, we signed up our 1 millionth user. 1 billion next.
not only have we been able to democratize access to crypto and create a global, inclusive financial network, but Worldcoin’s proof-of-personhood will be one of the most relied-upon protocols in the age of AI.
